SYNOPSIS
An Inspector Calls takes place on a single night in 1912, and focuses on the prosperous middle-class Birling family, who live in Brumley, an industrial city in the north of England. When a man calling himself Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly, the mood of their peaceful dinner party – and their complacency – is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young woman. His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge us all to examine our consciences.
