SYNOPSIS
Set during a fiercely contested presidential primary, Farragut North follows a young, ambitious campaign press secretary caught in the brutal machinery of American politics. Written by Beau Willimon (House of Cards / Andor), it offers an unflinching look behind the curtain at the strategists, spokespeople, and dealmakers who shape public perception while serving their own ambitions. As loyalties shift and personal motives collide, the play explores how power - even in small doses - distorts values and relationships. Farragut North captures the tension between political idealism and self-interest, painting a sharp portrait of how easily conviction can give way to calculation in the race to win.
CHARACTERS
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Farragut North is a sharp political drama that exposes the machinery beneath America’s democratic facade - the "kingmakers" who pull the strings behind the red, white, and blue curtain.
It reveals how ambition, loyalty, and manipulation intertwine in the hands of campaign operatives, shaping democracy from the shadows. What makes the play so timely is not only its dissection of political spin, but its unflinching look at how even a taste of power can corrupt.
The characters, still far from the halls of true authority, already begin to lose sight of the very people they claim to serve, consumed instead by their own proximity to influence.
In a world where every ideal is negotiable and every conviction can be spun, Farragut North holds up a mirror to the quiet compromises that define the system - and to the moral erosion that begins long before anyone reaches the top.
